The best budget apps for your Android or iOS

These applications act as personal financial assistants: they provide detailed reports on income and expenses, help you stick to a monthly budget, send reminders about recurring payments, and analyze receipts.

Goodbudget

Goodbudget is designed to help you take control of your expenses. It is ideal for individuals with little experience using financial apps, as it offers a simple and user-friendly interface. The app employs the envelope budgeting method, a classic approach that remains highly effective. This system allows you to categorize your expenses, providing clear oversight of how you spend your money each month. If you’re looking to bring order to your finances, Goodbudget is an excellent starting point.

Money Manager

A classic app for managing personal finances. It allows you to record data on income, expenses, loans, or salaries and later review statistics for any chosen period. All information can also be accessed through a computer.

A handy feature: income and expenses can be linked to specific categories or accounts for better organization.

Wallet

Another tool that, like Fintonic and Spendee, offers synchronization with major banks is Wallet, a budgeting app we previously reviewed.

This expense management app encourages users to leave behind their spreadsheets or notebooks traditionally used for tracking expenses and savings. Instead, it invites them to switch to its flexible system for financial control and planning.

Splitwise

This app is specifically designed for those who share a rented apartment with others. It tracks the division of expenses, recording how much each roommate has contributed toward groceries, utility bills, or services like hiring a repair technician.

Money Lover

Money Lover was recognized by Google as one of the best apps of 2017—and for good reason. It stands out as one of the most comprehensive expense management tools available on Google Play, offering features like cloud synchronization, budget planning, push notifications, and expense tracking by category.

Additional features include the ability to manage debts and loans, create shared wallets with friends or family, and even a “Travel Mode” designed for travelers spending time in a foreign country.

Monefy

Another simple yet enjoyable app to use is Monefy. It tracks your expenses, categorizes them, and provides clear statistics. One of its standout features is the ability to sync across multiple devices, making it convenient for users who switch between gadgets or want to monitor the budget of their entire family.

Bluecoins

I have to admit that, among all the apps in this top list, Bluecoins is my personal favorite for managing expenses.

While its interface might not be as user-friendly as some other options, it undoubtedly stands out as one of the most powerful expense-tracking apps in its category, thanks to its extensive range of features and capabilities.

In fact, I included it in my list of must-have apps discovered last year, and now I can’t imagine managing my finances without it.
